How to fill in a lab order so the work comes back right
Most remakes start with a vague lab order. The technician only knows what's on the form and in the box. Everything else is a guess.
- Teeth and work: tick every tooth involved. For a bridge, write which teeth are abutments and which are pontics in the notes.
- Material: choose one, or ask the lab to suggest one in the notes. Don't leave it blank.
- Shade: write the shade and the guide you used (for example Vita Classical or 3D-Master). Add the stump shade for all-ceramic work on a discoloured tooth. Send shade photos as files, not chat photos. See shade photography.
- Design: pontic type, how firm the occlusion and contacts should be, and the margin.
- Enclosed: tick what's in the box, so nothing is missing when the lab opens it.
- Dates: a try-in date and a "needed by" date the lab can actually meet. Ask them how long the work takes.
- Disinfect impressions before they leave the clinic, and say so if your lab asks.
Lab orders from the case, in English or Arabic
In OnlyTeeth, a lab order starts from the case. You pick the shade on a shade picker, and the PDF carries the shade photo, your logo and your signature, in English or Arabic, ready to send to the lab's chat. Lab orders are part of OnlyTeeth Premium; every new account gets 30 days of Premium free.
Questions
Is this the same as a dental lab prescription?
Yes. Lab order, lab prescription, lab slip and work authorisation all mean the written instructions that go to the lab with the case.
Can my lab use it as their own form?
Yes, it's free to use, print and share. Type the lab's name at the top, save it as a PDF and print as many as you need.
Which tooth numbering does it use?
FDI (11–48), the two-digit system used in most countries. Write the teeth out in the notes if your lab uses another system.
